In the children's ministry of Mt. Harmony Baptist Church, you will find that there are a variety of activities that have been planned purposefully to introduce your child to the Word of God and His plan for their lives.  At Mt. Harmony we believe in the truth of God's Word and we believe that the "family that worship's together, stays together."  So we try and plan activities that join families together and integrate spiritual, social and physical aspects together so that the child can grow into a well rounded person just as Jesus grew in "wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and man." Luke 2:52  Listed below, you will find links to several of the activities that we offer as a children's ministry at Mt. Harmony Baptist Church.  Although this list is not comprehensive, it will give you a good idea as to all the wonderful opportunities your child will receive at Mt. Luke 2:52 says that Jesus grew in "wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and in favor with man."  In other words, Jesus was a very well rounded individual.  We tend to think sometimes that Jesus was some kind of super-spiritual guy that would have been pretty difficult to get to know.  But that's not the truth at all - Jesus has a lot to teach each of us about how to live life and to get the most from it - In fact, He said that He came so that we could have life and have it more abundantly - Live it to the fullest. 

This is what the children's church ministry of Mt. Harmony Baptist Church is all about.  We meet on Sunday mornings from 10:45 to 12:00 Noon and we have a lot of fun.  We sing together, watch drama sketches, do crafts, talk about what it means to be a Jesus follower, have story time and do a multitude of other activities.  Children's Church is for ages 4 through 3rd grade and you can rest assured that when your child is with us, they are safe and sound.  Our children's hall is secure and only approved children's workers are allowed on or off the hall at all times.  Parents are required to sign their children in and out and we make sure that we are accountable to parents at all times.  If you have any questions, please call us or feel free to come check us out.

The AWANA ministry is on Summer break and will return NEXT WEEK with sign-ups starting on Wednesday, September 7, 2011, from 6:30 - 8 PM.  While you sign-up, the kids can enjoy a petting zoo!

Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed! This is what AWANA is all about - Working hard at memorizing the Word of God - our road map for life.  Beginning at age 4 through the 6th grade our children are exposed to Scripture Memory and to learning the truths found within God's Word. 

Our 4 and 5 year olds are in the Cubbies program.  In this age the children learn small parts of larger verses and are taught the fundamentals of the Christian faith - that Jesus loves them and He gave His life for them.  Our younger elementary aged children participate in what is called Sparks.  In Sparks they learn larger verses and continue to concentrate on the basic doctrines it teaches.  Finally, our older elementary aged children are a part of the group called Truth and Training.  In this group, they memorize large sections of Scripture and are taught to become firmly grounded in the faith.  Once a child leaves this group, you can rest assured that they have hidden the Word of God in their hearts and they have a firm foundation upon which they can build.

 Not only do all of these groups learn Scripture, but they participate in exciting physical games and challenges which teach them to interact with one another through friendly competition.  We keep scores and the children earn AWANA bucks and are invited to attend the AWANA store twice per semester (Spring and Fall).  This gives the children an incentive to learn and to participate. 

The great thing about AWANA is that it encourages parent/child interaction in learning these Scriptures.  Parents must sign off each week, acknowledging that the child has quoted the Scripture memory passage for the week.  Our hope is that through this type of learning, parents will re-inforce these timeless Biblical truths in the home.  If you have any questions about our AWANA ministry, please do not hesitate to call our church office at (704) 847-9068.
